Book Fair: The Book Fair is held in the Spring. The committee works with Scholastic to order the fair books, attend a workshop and then coordinate the sale of books during the week of the fair. The committee chairs work with the PTA to provide certificates to teachers and scholarship students at the school to make sure that everyone can purchase a book. They also coordinate with Mrs. Troy, the school librarian, to use her space during the week of the fair and provide her with the profits from the fair to continue to build the library at Lincolnwood.

Review vendor registration forms and communicate club offerings and policies to parents. Manage registration process and provide teachers and school secretary with club rosters. Arrange for Kindergarten/5th grade buddies and work with school secretary for late bus, if needed. Evaluate club offerings and make changes as appropriate. Work with website chair to ensure all forms/policies ate posted to the PTA website.
Community Service: Plan, set-up, and run an event benefiting a local food bank, soup kitchen, animal shelter, or the environment. Aim to engage students by raising awareness of others and connecting problem solving to meet community needs with positive action.
Directory: The chair uses the mydirectorymaker.com program to update all family data and layout the pages of the directory. Quartet copies in Evanston prints a copy of the directory for every family in the school.
E-Blast: Help with production of weekly Friday newsletter via email.
eScript: Dominick’s will donate money to our school based on a percentage of your Dominick’s grocery bill. Chair simply collects Dominick’s numbers for registration with eScrip.

Job duties include: Coordinating all aspects of the Fall festival; identifying and recruiting a strong leadership team to help with food, games, prizes, volunteers and community outreach; coordinating and overseeing leadership team and volunteers on
the day of the event.
Family Night: This event at the end of January helps bring together families of all ages, sizes, and ethnicities from Lincolnwood for a night of free entertainment and socializing. Our goal is to help families meet each other and feel the inclusiveness of the Lincolnwood family. The event is usually held at Haven Middle School.
Fifth Grade Transition: The 5th Grade Transition Team is responsible for creating a positive year of “transition” for the 5th grade class at Lincolnwood as they move from Primary School to Middle School. The strategy for accomplishing this objective follows:
· Execute a series of programs and activities inclusive of all 5th grade students as they transition from the more “dependent” environment of Primary school to the more “independent” environment of Middle School.
· Empower the kids to make decisions for their own 5th grade transition, including their own yearbook, photos, etc.
· Create an understanding of giving back to the community through service projects
· Integrate with other schools (Willard, Kingsley and Orrington) to begin to feel a sense of community beyond Lincolnwood
Hospitality: Plan and organize 1st day of school welcome coffee. Volunteer tables are set out with descriptions of the various ways parents and family members can get involved throughout the year.
House & Grounds: Explore ways to improve the indoor and outdoor environment.
Kindergarten Services: Plan welcoming event for in-coming kindergarteners and parents, coordinate volunteers for lunchtime and playground assistance, coordinate 5th grade volunteers for club escorts.
Membership Chair: Membership Chair keeps the Lincolnwood PTA membership list up to date and makes sure deposits go to the Treasurer. The Membership Chair sees most activity occurring from Sept-Oct when everyone is submitting forms.
Mighty Nest: Promote shopping at MightyNest.com with its extensive selection of high-quality and non-toxic products since 15% of every purchase is donated back to Lincolnwood.
New Families Coordinator: Reach out to incoming kindergarten families as well as new students in upper grades. Make initial contact, distribute the Welcome Packet and coordinate Buddy System.
Photography: Capture images of school events, assemblies, and classroom events.

"Reach for the Stars" Spring Fundraising Campaign: Responsible for project managing, marketing and executing three main components of the campaign: the appeal drive, the raffle contest and the fundraising event over a 3-month period. Must work closely with PTA Presidents and Mr. Hunter on key financial and school enrichment goals. Develop a committee to help execute the various tasks during the campaign, at the event and post-campaign.
Rummage Sale: Help set-up and run this Saturday fundraiser or sort donations during the week.
School Supply Packs: This committee is responsible for working with the teachers to agree on the school supplies needed for the next year and then working with the chosen vendor (currently Innisbrook) to get quotes and set up a process for parents to purchase school supply packs. The committee is also responsible for receiving the packs and distributing them in the fall.
Science Fair: The Science Fair occurs in February. Classes rotate during the day on a Thursday through the Science Fair with their teachers, and there is a 2-hour Open House for families in the evening, which includes a Paper Airplane Toss contest in the auditorium. The Science Fair is open to the whole student body; participation is optional (but always encouraged) for grades K-4, and required for 5th graders. The time frame is roughly from November through February. The committee meets in the fall to review the rules and finalize the information packet, and in January to review the project proposals and finalize volunteer commitments. The chairperson is responsible for 1) submitting applications for building usage, 2) keeping in touch with general education and special education teachers, and 3)
enlisting the aid of the principal, PE teachers and custodial staff for the set-up and event itself. The information packets and entry forms go out to families in early December, the deadline for proposals occurs after returning from winter break, the set-up for displays happens after school the day before the event, and there is an evening Open House and Paper Airplane Toss Contest.

Star Garden: Work with teachers to promote health and nutrition through the edible garden project.
Superstar: Help with production of monthly printed school newsletter.
Teacher Appreciation Week: The committee organizes, coordinates and oversees the teacher appreciation celebration. The committee determines if there will be a week-long or month-long celebration. Plan activities, events and/or special treats for the teachers such as massages, meals, class notes to the teachers, etc. The committee also holds a luncheon where a gift will be given to all staff members as well as those celebrating milestones such as retirement, wedding, birth, advanced degree, etc. The PTA provides the budget for the luncheon, gifts and activities.
TV Tune Out Week: Coordinate fun activities for kids and families including Bingo Night during ScreenBreak Week, formerly known as TV Tune Out Week.
Website: Help update our PTA web pages with new school year content.
Yearbook: The Lincolnwood Yearbook is an ongoing project. The Yearbook Chairperson is responsible for collecting photos, the layout and design of the yearbook, working with the publisher Herff Jones, collecting orders/money on behalf of the Lincolnwood PTA, and distributing finished copies back to students. The time frame is as follows: photos of school events, classroom activities, school teams, and clubs are collected from staff (Mr. Hunter and teachers) and room representatives from September through March. The chairperson completes a contract with Herff Jones in January and begins layout process online, collects orders from students' families on behalf of the Lincolnwood PTA at the end of March, sends the completed online layout to the publisher in the beginning of April, receives the yearbooks after
Memorial Day, and distributes the yearbooks to classrooms before school ends in June.
